Other projects

Here you will find short summaries of various other projects including my agency client projects over the past few years. While most of the content will be anonymised or redacted, I hope they spark your curiosity!

Sull’Amo - Head of Service

Over the course of Summer 2022 I had the opportunity to work with a restaurant to not only establish their service model, but to instil ways of working from the kitchen to table. This included among other things creating a structured way for staff to communicate with the kitchen staff during service, curating the dining experience, training staff and co-creating new ways of serving our dishes based on observations.

In addition to being lots of fun, after many years designing digital experiences and physical products, it was refreshing to work within the physical service space. For someone who is as passionate about food and produce as me, this was once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape the culture of a restaurant and learn more about (and solve!) the challenges of running a high-end restaurant.

Market Launch Guide - Consultant & Researcher

In January 2019, AB InBev approached Brand Genetics to create a market launch guide for an energising water drink in the UK, starting with London. We had 6 weeks to deliver a clear and informed guide for the brand’s launch, from distribution to positioning, based on human-centric research.

Given the short time frame, we could not use our usual methodologies. Instead, I developed a methodology that allow us to get data from all potential group participants, not just those who participated in the groups while cutting the recruitment time in half.

The result was a research structure that empowered the team to make informed decisions earlier on and make the most of the limited time we had to conduct in-person research. Through persona mapping we were able to evaluate how each group’s needs were met by the product and identified the most promising group of users, allowing us to tailor the launch strategy based on their specific energy needs.

By the end of the 6 weeks we delivered a clear and actionable plan for the brand to start being distributed in London. The team and I worked very hard to deliver a user-centric brand growth and product launch strategy and within a few months we started seeing the product on shelves.

The Morality of Digital Design: Dark Patterns & Beyond - Masters Dissertation

This dissertation explores how dark patterns, a type of design pattern that intentionally tricks users into making a decision or behaving in ways they would have otherwise not done, influence decision making and shift value from the user to the platform. I propose a new segmentation of these patterns based on their implementation and function. This dissertation evidences how digital designers should see themselves responsible for the social sphere similarly to how industrial designers are responsible for the environment.
